Update: heard back from Consolidated Sound Services, who do US repairs for 'em:
"An M160 costs $260 for a complete system rebuild, parts and labor. This gives you a brand new mic essentially."

Since mine is recent enough that it probably doesn't need a "complete system rebuild"... gotta give Cole the edge on this one at $150.

Anybody know if 500 modules (not racks) can be used all over the world?

Example - can a single module - preamp/comp/whatever - work in a US voltage 500 series rack the same as a UK voltage 500 series rack etc.

500 series racks do all of the AC to DC conversion in the rack itself, so the module would see the same DC voltage from the rack regardless of what the AC input voltage is.

Hey so on that patchbay tip: would this be a good project to learn to solder on? Or maybe too complicated?

This will not be a small project since my 32 channel Venice and 16 channel io is going to be the heart of the thing before outboard is even considered.

I would love to not do it but tbh I’d probably put off buying cable just as much as I would put off building cables, but I’d be out less $ with the former.

Is there a thread on current 'entry level' turntables? I'm looking for one myself.

My patchbay was my first bigger soldering project. That was a million years ago and it's still in use and doing fine. Bantam/TT bays (like mine) are harder to deal with because everything is smaller but otherwise no big deal. My bays all came from electronics surplus stores so the first job was desoldering the scrap wire ends that were still attached and then cleaning and prepping to rewire them. Since then I've done more studio installs than I'd like to think about and have wired a ton of patchbays. I'm no master but it's really not hard once you get going.
It's labour intensive but it's well worth it as you'll save a ton of dough doing it yourself.

What are some good Youtube videos/content on easy guitar maintenance? I'm talking about changing strings, or fixing a buzzing string. This can be for acoustic and electric (I have both).

I recently paid $65 to have a guy change the strings on my guitar and fix a buzzing fret. I want to know if it's worth learning how to DIY so I don't have to spend money every time there's a problem.
