Do you honestly think this is targeted at anyone other than Saudi Arabia? I'm not being cute. I find the gold card hard to really take in without being 100% skeptical. Where does the money go? Vetting? It's so oddly out in the open. I know the gold card is just corruption, but to which end?

Why isn't MAGA going nutz? My amygdala is fucking killing me with this shit...

I mean go-arounds aren't all that uncommon. My flight into MSP had to go around a couple months ago. Better to go around and get it right than not go around and regret it. The particular setup is a little concerning given the known staffing and overworking of controllers though. Germany and Switzerland found out the hard way with the Überlingen disaster that adequate ATC staffing is kind of important...

Correct. I've been a part of at least two go-arounds if memory serves me correctly, both at London-Heathrow: one for horrific crosswinds, the other because the plane that landed just before ours didn't clear the runway fast enough.

So, yeah, they happen. A single go-around may or may not provide evidence that there is insufficient ATC staffing, but an increase in incidents over time would.
