Tips for getting the grill off a Shure Beta 58

1
So I have a Beta 58 with an intermittent rattle. I was going to open it to check things out but the grill just will not shift. I thought about sticking something through the openings on the grill to help it turn but I'm pretty sure that will just bend the grill wire.

Any tips on how to get this thing off? Cheers.

Can confirm.

If it won't shift, something gnarly is gumming up the works. Beyond large-jaw vice grips, I think your idea of going through grill is probably the best & just need to just call the grill a loss and plan to replace it entirely, presuming there isn't something else wrong like the capsule being loose or something. It's interchangeable w/ a normal SM58 so they're readily available and not terribly expensive.

It needs that blue band to really get that Beta tone though. If you're on a budget you could steal a blue rubber band from something in the veggie aisle.

Thanks, for some reason it didn't even occur to me to check out replacements. You're right, they're cheap.

Wow. That's...kinda nuts. You could probably use a pipe wrench if you can't get the vice grips. Might need to (carefully) dremel it off.

Not sure what kinda spit could have gummed that up so badly unless the singer has been gargling epoxy or something. The bad part is it doesn't even address the rattle to begin with which sounds like the capsule has come undone or loose in some way which I have never seen before. Wild.
