I like all the Bay Area Hot Bands- Hot Laundry, Hot Lunch, etc.
Hot Lunch has two releases, an EP and an LP. The LP, just called "Hot Lunch" (2013) is a ripping garage-rock MC-5-ish slab of hell yeah.
The EP "Seconds" (2019) is WAAAAAY more proggy. This band somehow manages to have a foot in garage punk, metal, and prog all at once. I prefer the LP but am not immune to the charms of the EP. I tend to resist prog's tendency to veer into "Hi-Diddly-Di" territory. "Seconds" mostly has a more Meddle or "lost side 3 of 'Strawberry Fields Forever'" vibe than "Mr. Peter Gabriel is about to put on a mask and sing in Elvish" vibe.
I greatly prefer the LP, honestly, but will still spin both several times over the next few days.
