I don't dance. Never have. But I do love watching dance as an art form.

There is a documentary called Pina about the dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch, and in one clip she does something with her arms that is the most expressive thing I have ever seen. I gasped when I saw it happen.

Agree - seeing folks dance w nuance and skill is amazing to watch. I went to a performance recently and a woman translated into Auslan via dance - sounds clunky , but it was fluid and beautiful - total appreciative silence from the crowd w a collective gasp at the end …

No video unfortunately

Went out dancing last night for Pride at Queen!, a weekly underground LGBTQ+ house party at Smartbar. 'Twas fun. Got hit on by a loud drunk girl and a twink. And not for nothing but if I never see another harness it will be too soon. Harnesses are like Oakley sunglasses but for gay men. I said what I said.

Impressive for 1961. It's got a lot of other stuff going for it, but I believe the drums are the real reason it sold like hot cakes.

Listen to those fills. A work of art.
I always liked this song. I'll pay attention to the drums next time I listen to it.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

Ran into former FM Mendoza on IG. He's currently script supervisor for The Bear, but I fondly remember his band, Let's Get Out Of This Terrible Sandwich Shop, and this Dixieland banger from their first tape

I've had it stuck in my head for over 48 hours and always bop and shimmy and kick whenever it plays.
