Back to a tough one. I don't listen to his playing as often as I used to, but he was quite an inspiration to me - a trumpet player - in high school/college.
Gonna put on one of his records now. RIP

I typed in Mangione and that was coming up first, I felt the same. Though, losing Chuck Mangione also sucks.
Me neither, and nor did I care for Sabbath without him. But indeed - those first six albums are iconic (I hate using that word, but still...) and even "Never Say Die" had a great title track.Vibracobra wrote: Wed Jul 23, 2025 12:57 am Never cared for his solo stuff... His composition skills and piano-playing were also top notch. 'A Christmas Carol' will always have a spot on my holiday playlist.djimbe wrote: Sun Jul 27, 2025 3:47 pm Tom Lerher at 97. Was on my "people who are still alive but thought they were dead" list until yesterday. Just listened to "poisoning pigeons in the park" and " the elements" in tribute. Anyone who can rattle off the periodic table to Gilbert and Sullivan is a guy I'll toast. Salut! Crazy parody mathematician!
Oh jeez. I'm so sorry, seby. Your family's really going through a lot. Sending best wishes!seby wrote: Sun Jul 27, 2025 8:50 pm My cousin Frances, 55 from ovarian cancer, four days ago. This is on my father's side of the family in the US so it has been a hard month for everyone. I fly from Sydney to Memphis this Wednesday to be with everyone and to try and sort out some with/for my father. My guess now is that I'll be moving between Memphis, Watertown, St Louis, and Jackson.
My father is very confused and agitated, but he has a good group of friends around him helping him access the sorts of support that he is going to need.
