An interesting watch. I have no idea if the interviewee is right. I normally avoid the host. But worth watching.

Edit.

It was going so well up until the last 15 minutes when it goes totally off the rails. The guest starts saying he’s 100% sure he’s living in a simulation and that everyone should buy bitcoin just be the host starts flogging brain pills. You couldn’t make it up.
Anything that says "only" or "all" in the headline should automatically be a warning.

Nine times out of 10, it's either hyperbolic nonsense, dead wrong, or merely gunning for clicks.

Yeah. I got this recommendation from our AI guy in the office. It’s all interesting until the predicable grift kicks in.

This is absolutely (see what I did there) worth paying attention to. Will add "always," "never," "everyone," "no one" to the list. The gist is headlines using absolutes are often (who are we kidding, usually) suspect. Anyone who frequently speaks/writes that way should be suspect as well. Yes, that last thing was an absolute, but it's correct. I once read that using this way to communicate (if that just one's personality) is one clear sign of a narcissist.

re: the video with the AI safety expert above

Well, shit. This hits close to home. I hosted a panel with Roman about 5 years ago. The video used to be posted on our web site; looks like the page is still there but the video was taken down.

Given my previous professional connection and me just clearly identifying myself, I should probably withhold my thoughts on him. If anyone is curious and happens to be at one of the SKWM shows next week, as always look for the idiot in the red "VOLO" shirt. Or PM me.

I'll go watch the video posted above a bit later.

He seemed a little detached from how the economy actually functions.

If robots take all the jobs and we have 99% unemployment all the billionaires go bankrupt because no one can buy their shit.

Former Wondery exec Jeanine Wright is leading a new firm, Inception Point AI, that's betting on flooding the zone with audio content: “I think that people who are still referring to all AI-generated content as AI slop are probably lazy luddites."
I’m already seeing this on YouTube with channel like Sleepy Scientist. Which is softly spoken looong videos about physics to fall asleep to. It’s borderline not AI Slop but I just can’t engage when I know channels with real people working their butts off doing similar stuff.
I don't think she's trying for the "quiet ASMR to fall asleep to" segment, but I do enjoy her physics presentations:

You're welcome, it's a good reminder that it's worth talking about the good stuff (even if it's good stuff about bad stuff) one comes across, since everyone's feeds/algorithms/apps are so balkanized.

Did I already post about Ed Zitron's newsletter Where's Your Ed At? I'm lazy so instead of looking up-thread I'll post it (again): https://www.wheresyoured.at/how-to-argu ... i-booster/

Dang I need a raise so I can subscribe to more stuff.
