Well, at least the suspense is over.
I am really glad that Ohtani is not languishing with a team that doesn't make the playoffs.
I wonder how much his presence just makes the other guys, even the superstars among them, that much more focussed and in the moment. Like: "I am playing with and experiencing the greatest player to ever play the game, what an immense blessing, I want to be sure to really be here for it." Not like they necessarily need that, but they must be thinking some shade of that to a degree.
The Crew didn't look great at all these last four games, but there are a lot of positives in there, very young players getting some crucial experience and even shining under the pressure (The Miz in particular). At the same time, seeing Seattle's clutch star-calibre deadline aquisitions coming through last night also makes me wish the Brewers could go all in once in a while. Also disappointed at Yelich's performance, much as I admire him. He now has a long history of not producing in the playoffs and not having moments that rally the team in the way Raleigh did last night, for instance. I wonder how his story will continue to unfold.
That ALCS game was absolutely beautiful. Seems like the heads-up double play starting in front of the plate could prove to be a sort of turning point. Excited to see how this plays out.
