Damn! Those are sharp.TylerDeadPine wrote: Wed Oct 01, 2025 7:58 pmThat it is! I didn't expect to see it in more 'diy' type circles. I CAN say that every single part of it save for like, the tuners & pots are made in our shop (the pickups, all the vibrato parts, even the knobs). I'm technically 'part' of it ,but I don't do much on it except help spec parts, sign documents ... boring parts.four_oclocker_2.2 wrote: Mon Sep 29, 2025 6:19 pmYo! This is one of my bands, BLANK BANKER.TylerDeadPine wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 10:59 am Right on that sounds nasty. Does your other guitar player have a Powers Electric?!
Since this was a "fly-in" deal for 60% of the band, we used a bunch of gear that the Montano contingent owns. Orion (lead singer/guitarman) has a nice amount of guitars and after some sampling while practicing, Andy (other guitarman) landed on O's Powers "Type A" for this run of gigs. He's usually a Jazzmaster guy, which is 100% of what he's playing on the record linked above. The Powers is nice! It's expensive!
Re: A Few New Projects
562Guitarist from my band played his Century guitar when we played with Blank Banker last month. I think he ended up putting EGC humbuckers in it at some point and getting it refinished by a random guy he met in line at a Sherwin-Williams.

563I'll get pics of #35 (tb500) and #36 (tb1000) up tomorrow. Josh's Century #7 does sound really good in that video.

Re: A Few New Projects
564#35 is nearing the finish line. This week I got the fretwork, drilling and tapping done. Next is finalizing the pickguard shape and getting things polished.
#36 was mostly being machined this week. Now moving on to shaping the neck. I hope to also get a lot of the rough woodworking done on the body.
I spent a big part of the week rebuilding this old Valley Arts bass. The electronics were chopped up and the scarf joint on the neck had failed. I got some footage of the process and will put that on youtube at some point. While I dislike active electronics from a tone perspective, man was the EMG-X Frank Bello pickup set a breeze to install. Let me know if someone needs it.

565Marcus from MR Guitar Service, back with some stories and some wise words about being on the road.
Before I did my first major headliner tech gig I called Marcus and asked for every last bit of advice he could give me. It included a 'throw and go' with a rented backline-which are some of the most difficult situations. He talked me thru what to expect from crew, stage hands, talent and dealing with being on a work visa for border crossings. We've since been able to debrief and commiserate about all getting struck on a loading dock during a riot or assholes putting full energy drinks down on stage.

Re: A Few New Projects
570Dan has built a couple hundred different pedals of all sorts- some useful, some not. One that we're using for the Bass VI setup is a clone of the Sunn Beta Bass preamp section- fed into a quilter bass block power section.andyman wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 3:32 pm So glad to see some demos. It sounds absolutely killer.
Also what's that beta clone pedal?
