Exactly. I pinched the idea from somewhere, can’t recall now. Mainly because I don’t have access to tinted lacquer.

Been there done that! It’s kind of amazing how much easier it is when you procrastinate.
Yeah I finish all of mine with tru-oil, supposed to give it a month to cure. At the start of that I think "a MONTH?!?? But I'm an American, I want it NOOOOOWWW" and then invariably get busy with something else and the neck/body just hangs there for 6 weeks or more. Every time.

matttkkkk thanks for the rundown on the paint! Makes me wanna give it a try. I've been doubtful of getting decent results, and most DIY paint jobs I've seen online don't look very good, even from people who clearly know what they're doing, but yours really looks nice.

Yes it absolutely is. I wish people would stop making 30 versions of a Tele or some stupid Explorer knockoff and make cool ass guitars based on Japanese and Italian guitars from the 60's/70's. I guess that St. Vincent guitar is kind like that.
This is fucking rad!

I mean that's true for all quirky Japanese guitars from the. 60s-80s, but this is a 1990s build for Shonen Knife, and as long as the neck is good like they claim then it's probably better than most Teisco type jawns.
Yeah, this one looks pretty solid.

Bit late but... VERY nice job on that Mory!!!

This passed thru recently: real early mid to late 50s Teisco EP-11
Has a neck on it like a Rugby prop's thigh but plays like butter (well very old butter) due to somebodies attention to the neck and frets in the past.
These are superb pickups too. (Glen Campbell did not object).
