I prefer the D’addario ones as the ends are less bulky than the EBS, which are much smaller than regular patch cables but still have those corners and a boxiness that can get awkward in tight situations like Boss stereo effect pedals. Hey Boss, why do you put your jacks so close together? There ain’t nuff taint between the L, R, and Exp holes.Nico Adie wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 7:16 pm EBS flat patch cables. Just superior to every other patch cable I’ve ever used. Very flexible, take up very little space. Nothing not to like about them.

33I have a bunch of these tiny little right angle molded plugs from Amazon that were really cheap and kinda crappy, but they have the lowest profile right. angle plug and really flexible small cable in the world. They are the perfect interpatch cables... when they work, but they break pretty easy and are unfixable. I really wish someone could pull off the same design but strong.ChudFusk wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 11:05 pmI prefer the D’addario ones as the ends are less bulky than the EBS, which are much smaller than regular patch cables but still have those corners and a boxiness that can get awkward in tight situations like Boss stereo effect pedals. I wish they weren't made of garbage.
I forget the brand, but I use similar patch cables that I get from the very spendy (like, sells 6 figure les Pauls to that Joe Blueshammer guy spendy) shop down the street from me. Probably the exact same thing as those Amazon cables but the ends are white and they’re 3x the cost. I spend enough time there looking at guitars I’ll never afford that I have to buy stuff from them sometimes.
Anyway, yeah, good design and that reminds me I need to pick up a few more for my stupid typewriter pedalboard

Re: Under-appreciated Gear
36I really like these. I also use this plugin version (free) when I want to compress something and don't care about settings.

Re: Under-appreciated Gear
37+1 - I bought a pair when I thought I wanted to do a stereo thing. I'd compare them to what a "super-Bandit" would be if they branded it differently. Lotsa power, does the clean platform thing similar to a Jazz Chorus. My only beef is that like most old Peavey, it's much heavier than it needs to be, especially for a solid-state amp. Changing out the Scorpion speaker helps a wee bit.
While we're at it, we could throw a ton of OLD Peavey on this list. I think most of us are aware of the gems, but an old cranked Rage is just the ticket for getting the sound of feeling like things are going to fly apart at the seams at any moment. Mace/Deuce = great clean hybrid tube amps w/ more than enough power for anything. Original Butcher as we know is basically a JCM800. VTM series is dope (and the matching speaker cabs came loaded w/ Celestion G12K-85 (same as G12K-100)). Mark IV for bass, hard to go wrong there. The old Musicians were surprisingly great amps as well. I'm sure I'm missing tons of others. Weight was the main issue on most of these (and I have been told many of them used proprietary components making them sometimes challenging to repair, would defer to others to verify).
Re: Under-appreciated Gear
38Nobody could figure out why they made a plugin to model a $150 compressor, then the compressor wasn’t $150 anymore.
these always looked real nicestuder consoles
Re: Under-appreciated Gear
39YES. I have several other compressors, but I still use these all the damn time.

These are very low-profile and are only mildly offensive to my delicate price sensitivity.
the 5V USB to 9V (18V also available, which I will also vouch for) tip-negative 2.1mm converters are also well-enough made that I've ordered more so I can run a few pedals off a USB battery.
