A weird record - well played, recorded blah blah - but it just seems kinda unnecessary - if that makes sense. In venn diagram terms this is the perfect space where Crass “penis envy” and The Slits “cut” intersect. I love both these albums … but this kinda just does nothing for me…I want to like it more, but it just doesn’t spice my curry

Thanks for the head's up, I don't follow Castleface too closely because Oh Sees went the way of the kids years ago.

I don't think it's supposed to be an "important" album or whatever this thread is trying to compare it with. Almost everyone involved already made their musical "statements" years ago. If anything, it's a strong reminder that Dave Barbarossa is a powerhouse drummer who doesn't get much due because he was in a pop band (and Matthew Ashman died before the reappraisal got under way). I don't know the singer, but I like her vocal approach too.

I wish that latest album by Bush Tetras - a beloved, groundbreaking band in this household - sounded more like this.
