I bought a Safelock Stand to use as a combo amp mount. Just enough surface area to put the Quilter’s tiltback legs up so it really hits me right in the ears.
Plus, now I can make marginally more I AM THE TABLE jokes than normal.

1112That photo makes me so so so happy you don't even know. Like weepy happy.

1113I thought everybody was just using amp sims into IEMs now.

1114Mostly true! I don't know if I would have embraced it so much if I was more active like I used to be. I've been mostly focused on recording and playing at home. Practice and live shows are secondary, a flip from what I've traditionally done to make music.Nate Dort wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 6:22 pm I thought everybody was just using amp sims into IEMs now.

1117I haven't had a ton of time to play it yet but I'm really impressed with the Greer Lightspeed overdrive so far. I just wanted something would just add a bit of dirt without really shaping the tone much, and it seems to do this perfectly. Stacks really well with my Plumes when more gain is needed.
Re: Micro-reviews of Gear You Just Bought
1119I got to do a little shoot out with the Mikro 421 vs. a Stock 421 II the other day and they sound pretty much the same but the Micro is a little more bloomy in the lows, but it is also a lot les banded around so it could just be new/old thing. Upon further listening, I realized that the Micro had a lot less of the terrible cymbal bleed than the OG. I actually really dislike the sound of what gets into a 421 off axis and have decided against them a few times when it is especially bad, and the Mikro had a smidge less of it so that's kinda cool. I never use the filter switch on a 421 at all so going forward I can't see me buying anymore laser gun 421's. Just get the little ones.

1120This showed up last week and I finally had a chance to put it through its paces at my practice space over the weekend - this thing RIPS.Dr Tony Balls wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 12:03 pm Sometimes going with a kit is the best option...
FM four_oclocker_2.2 hit me up about a straight-up 5E3 Deluxe clone. He wasn't wildly specific about the aesthetics but the idea being to get it sonically as close as possible to the real thing. The speaker is always fundamental to the sound (especially in this amp) and its widely regarded that the Weber 12A125A is one of the best clones of the original. It also happens that speaker comes with their kit, at a very solid price, which knocks off a lot of the labor for me so its a better deal all around. Neal chose the finish, and I just replaced the shitty components that can come with their kits and rolled from there. The only modification is replacing the second speaker jack with a proper line out jack (post-OT, like on a Matchless Spitfire).
Exactly what I was looking for - easy to carry, great tone, wonderful cleans at low volume and perfect breakup when it gets louder. The line out is a delightful feature - I was testing out running that through the input of my Twin and and bam, there you go, 135 watt Fender Deluxe.
Thank you, Tony!
