Editors note: I spoke to JSPWTF on the phone today and he asked me to post the following. I know that a lot of you still feel the incredible void left by Steve’s death and I am of the opinion that one of the ways to help fill that void is to celebrate what made him special and participate in it. In this case, that means helping with something that Steve dedicated so much time to, the Letters to Santa charity. Please take a moment to read the message below and give if you can. Any amount helps.
From JSP:
Letters To Santa is the primary program of Letters Charity, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing holiday gifts, technology, and direct financial relief to families experiencing poverty. The organization was deeply meaningful to Steve Albini as the husband of Letters Charity founder Heather Whinna. Steve wrote about his love for Letters To Santa in the Huffington Post, sharing why this unconventional holiday tradition was important to him for years (https://www.huffpost.com/entry/why-i-ha ... _b_8614568).
This year, Letters To Santa’s online auction features some rare and unique music memorabilia, including items with connections to Steve’s world, which we believe will be of special interest to music collectors and Electrical Audio forum members.
You can view and bid in the auction here: https://givebutter.com/c/25gala/auction
You can also watch the livestream of their annual fundraiser, featuring Fred Armisen and Jeff Tweedy, on November 29th here: https://givebutter.com/c/25gala
