This exactly. And at one point, my midi mapping got wiped after I updated SWS. I don't want to spend time tweaking and setting up. I want to load a vendor config and go.

242I would get a Console III if I had money to burn and wanted to invest in Softube console software for easy setup. If I was a professional, I'd probably do this.Kniferide wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 12:58 pm Softube Console Controller is basically a whole channel strip.
Re: Reaper for assholes
243I've always hated the envelope filter automation in Reaper, but maybe I'm doing things wrong. I just spent some time cleaning a mess up.
Often times, I'll have four points (drawn with the razor tool) and raise/lower a section. But sometimes, when I go to adjust a section, it'll add an extra point, even though I'm using the move tool, not the draw tool. Sometimes, when I add a point, it'll add extra points with it, but random points on the line, not where I'm clicking. I'm not holding down and dragging to draw points, I'm just doing a point and click for a quick point and then I want to drag the point.
I just feel more often than not, I'm fighting the envelope line, which is frustrating, to say the least.
Is there something that I'm doing wrong here? Should I be thinking about this in a different way? I would expect, if I drag a line up or down, it adjusts the line, not add points. Same goes for adding a single point. I would expect a single point to be made, not extras at some other section of the line.

Re: Reaper for assholes
244weird. Im not having those issues but the way it wants to move edit a line does kinda suck and always has.cakes wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 1:18 pm I've always hated the envelope filter automation in Reaper, but maybe I'm doing things wrong. I just spent some time cleaning a mess up.

245Does this help?
I never knew this and I’m going to try it out. For my uses, I hate messing with that stuff so much that I tend to do splits between words or phrases and just pull the volume down there. I figure it’s at least as accurate as manually riding the fader.

Re: Reaper for assholes
247I'm trying to duplicate the issue you are having on my Mac Lappy and my PC tower and can't get it to go wrong. The only way I can get it to add another point in regular edit mode is to SHIFT-CLICK. I don't do a ton of Envelope automation, but it's working fine for me. It does get shitty when trying to grab a lot of points and move the simultaneously. Freaks out sometimes. Also gets weird when moving points with items sometimes. It is one of the more annoying things to edit in Reaper. The "reduce number of points" function can clean stuff up a lot. I need to make a toolbar with a bunch of the point editing/shape tools and other stuff to make this easier to deal with.cakes wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 9:40 amI actually know this and I use it, but it's not really a solution to nor an condition of the problem.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 4:03 pm Does this help?

Re: Reaper for assholes
248Thanks for trying. It still happens to me. I was doing some automation last night, and I'd click on a point, it would create 3 points. I think that was because I was not zoomed, I was pretty far out. I can see how being zoomed out too far could potentially create extra points. But, when I am zoomed in, let's say I create a point at the beginning of a section, and then go to click a point at the end of the section, which is much further down. The first point will disappear, or move right next to where I clicked. I can get this to happen consistently. I found two ways around this: razor select between two points (which is probably the best way to do it), or alternatively I discovered the shift option, which is way more useful.Kniferide wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 3:50 pmI'm trying to duplicate the issue you are having on my Mac Lappy and my PC tower and can't get it to go wrong. I also finally figured out how to show envelopes on the master track. Funny that was off by default. Just a reminder of how insanely deep Reaper is, it's going to take the rest of my life to really get into it. Makes me think of how Kenny Gioia has been lifting up Reaper on his back for like 2 decades. The man is a legend, a god, an immortal king.

249There is a couple of actions for Inserting multiple points at curser. check and make sure you don't accidentally have a hot key bound to that maybe.cakes wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 10:24 am

Kenny Gioia
Kenny... yeah. That dude rules, but his cadence is hard to hang with. Between him and the Reaper Blog guy there is so much info for reaper. It makes me mad when I need to look up anything for any other software that there isn't a Kenny for everything in my life.
Ive been making custom tool bars with tools for various tasks. One for regular recording stuff, editing envelopes, midi editing, grid divisions... etc. I've put buttons on the toolbars to quickly switch between toolbars. It makes Reaper pretty stupid powerful with just a mouse without having to raise my beer hand to hit a quick key.

There's so much to Reaper, it's hard to know where to start. I'm learning new shit every week. Just learned about the built in phase alignment tool introduced in 7...
