It should say on the back, right?

Like Mason said, its probably a YBA4 because they were combo amps, so you can of have an Ampeg VT22/V4 situation where people modded them by ditching the combo and speaker in lieu of an easy to carry head cabinet.

Not real sure of the component differences between the YBA1 and 4. That era of Traynor isn’t necessarily the most desirable but it’s probably splitting hairs - I’ve owned and played more Traynors than most in Texas and they’re all good in their own way, though some amps are better for guitar or bass. I actually love the low end on Traynors - they tend to beat out a lot of Ampegs until you get to the SVT level. They also have a wonderful growl even when relatively clean.

They like Fanes if you want to go slightly dark and Celestions for a rock sound!

FM Ben Adrian has one of those later YBA-1s but he's pretty extensively modded it into his Cartographer amp. I know he put in a larger output transformer as the stock one was pretty weak (I'd guess smaller/weaker than the ones in the early YBA-1s).

Crap, i had a whole reply and then the window got closed.

From what I understand, the YBA-1 and YBA-4 of the late 70s are the same amp. The YBA-4 was the combo version.

The amp has some unusual circuit things.
Linear volume pots
A weird T filter between gain stages 2 and 3.
Plate loaded tone stack.

The amp is solid, but IMO it would sound better modded to more of a classic plexi/tweed bassman circuit.

The OT is probably fine for anything that isn't super loud rock/metal. However, there is no selectable impedance, and it needs an 8 ohm load.
