Re: Band: Geese
142Anybody play Untitled Goose Game? Now that's pretty good, it's like Metal Gear....but with a goose.

Re: Band: Geese
144For me, it's hard to describe whether I find this band to be good or not. Like, my reaction to the carbomb song was that of, "oh, kinda sounds like Nick Cave," yet somehow there was something that didn't click in me. Maybe something is missing?losthighway wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 2:02 pm I don't know that seems a little unfair to me. Any longtime songwriter with any kind of width to their listening is making a lot of decisions based on what they don't want to do. You make stuff and some of it comes back to you appearing as a thing you want to avoid. For someone of that guy's generation he might call it cringe. I've definitely demo'd something that was going to have a kind of Cheap Trick feel and the demo came off more Green Day and I said, "Nope. This one's out." I wouldn't call that fear, just taste.
I remember reading about Stereolab starting and they wanted to make sure it was different first, before they worried about it being good. Sometimes the process isn't additive, it's subtractive.
Then I thought at first amusingly, "yeah, Nick Cave?" But now? Putting Cave's stage presence and charima aside, now that's a guy who dares to cringe. That includes early Cave. Remember Boys Next Door? And how many still think that album is cringe (and still do)? And I think that makes his work more engaging.
Hell, I like Lulu, like by a lot. And that, a lot of people thought (and still do) that album is cringe. I think to that level of dare needed to make those albums that I mentioned that you a lot of dare and maybe even early.
Maybe that's missing, at least for me? Or maybe I'm gatekeeping what sucks too hard? Like, "No, Geese, no! If you're gonna suck, at least kickass, like Pavement!"
Re: Band: Geese
145Pretty sure that's straight from a Beavis & Butt-Head episode.

Watching this, I think I'm indeed gatekeeping what sucks hard after all.
Re: Band: Geese
148"Too lazy to rock.. Too lazy to clean the tub." killed me. I think all the B&B with videos and og commercials are on the internet archive and I'm gonna hit that.

149That's Liz B's tub!! Not shitting you. Ask her. Beavis and Butthead talked shit about a PRF bathtub. That rules.Kniferide wrote: "Too lazy to rock.. Too lazy to clean the tub." killed me. I think all the B&B with videos and og commercials are on the internet archive and I'm gonna hit that.

150Haven't thought about Face for a long time (surprised it's still around), but they are absolutely a band I'd expect to be boosted by them.
