I have the Type 19 and it’s a crazy good instrument mic, especially for any heavy source like amps or low drums. It’s not something I would find useful in a stereo pair, but I could use multiples just to have out on different sources, drums, etc. i say that because the only drawback is the price, though if I were recording full bands and had 4 of them they would all get used regularly.

Also the Type 19 isn’t great on my voice or acoustic and I usually like tube mics on both of those things. I had an Advanced Audio 47 at the same time and sold the AA cuz it kind of paled in comparison, but the AA really was better on my voice than the Type 19. Still not as good as a AT4060 though.

I say all that because if the KSM44MP does better with voice and acoustic guitar it could be more useful than the Type 19 depending on what someone wanted out of it… I do expect $1k mics to do well on vocals. Wish I could try the new Type 21, but at $1500 that’s too much to even consider.

I wonder if the Chandler Type L is cool - I’m such a C38b fan that anything that gets advertised as a ribbon-like condenser perks my ears up a little.
