I always found O'Hare to be easy to deal with. One of the only cool things about Portland is the Airport is good.

If you can find a flight to Burbank, do it. Unless you're going down to Long Beach or something.
The only thing that always sucks about LAX is traffic getting in and out. I often walk from the international terminal to the rideshare area.

I live in south-ish/west LA so LAX is way closer than Burbank.

Flying Southwest is super easy at LAX.

There are so many ways to determine “best” airport. I could write a 10-page essay covering many of them that no one would read.

I will say that I have gotten stranded for hours at some of the “easy-in, easy-out” airports and it SUCKS, so I’m not going to mention them.

A super busy airport that somehow manages it well is most impressive to me. My nominee (preparing to duck for cover) is LHR Terminal 5 (particularly if you don’t have to transfer terminals). ORD gets honorable mention.

To be fair, there was a period when O’Hare had major issues with flight delays and long security lines, but it’s been well managed in recent years.

In the US it’s San Diego by a mile. I have a tremendous bias because my flying life is now mostly Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and leaving that level of hectic to land in San Diego feels amazing every time.

Terminal 2 international is big, bright, comfortable, always very clean, amenities everywhere, decent food, and they often have little events going on like dogs to pet at Christmas.

Terminal 1 was awful for awhile but they juuuuuust redid it and brought it up to the level of Terminal 2. (No lounge yet though)

It’s now across the board the chillest airport and when you step out it’s 75 degrees.

Geographical location REALLY HELPS this airport, like abnormally so. Which is fine, and I don’t disagree with your assessment.

Put this same airport, with its single runway, into the Midwest.. and it would turn into a shitshow quickly.
