Not a bad price for a 8CH rack DI. Does the link button work essentially the same as pluggin 2 sources into the In and Thru of any passive DI? I used to do that with Computer stereo sources to sum to mono to save channels when i had a bunch of stupid Power Point machines plugged in and Stereo was inconsequential.
it's either the link out as in a normal D.I. box, or switched to merge, inputs 9-16. on the back side it's balanced XLR out and 2 input channels summed to a jack output.
are you dropping fliff on that M Live 8ch auto switcher thing? It's fancy and weird.
Yeah, it’s like 900 bucks fancy! I don’t need them to run synced, but since I have a rack unit and one of the smaller b beats I’ll bring both to a show and don’t want to mess with switching cables. M Live’s customer service and update policy are pretty meh so I’m not going to spend some extra money on their products.

Been on an old DBX kick lately. Rebilt a 118 compressor and liked it a lot so I found another with a burned out chip for cheap and fixed it and really like the 118's for making stuff REALLY pumpy. I bought a 163 with a broken fader and fixed that and it is the polar opposite. You can smash it really hard and there is very limited breathing to be heard and it just gives you a really fun locked in level. I've used various 163 style plugins for a long time and always loved it on bass and the real box is pretty fun. I also have a 155 noise reduction unit that is a pretty cool saturator when driven. All this walnut sided DBX stuff is climbing up in price so I'm glad it is still affordable (when broken) and so far pretty easy to fix. Fun stuff. May look for a 164, the stereo 163 next.

Sony MDR-MV1 headphones

I'd been hearing a lot of positive reviews of these from folks who (like me) had previously sworn by the MDR-7506 for, well, everything. I've been using the 7506 primarily/exclusively for about 15 years now but for whatever reason I started to get the itch to try out something a little different/more hifi/fancier/etc. Found a dented box discounted for about $100 off retail, so figuerd it was worth a punt. First blush, they sound... good? I've not had open backs before but by all accounts these seem to be voiced somewhere in the middle of what you'd expect from modern open and closed backs.

Compared to the 7506s, on their own these feel most akin to listening to the 7506s with my monitors on at the same time. Kind of mostly the same but with the low end filled out a bit. I was also able to hear delay repeats a little more clearly and found myself pulling sends down a bit here and there on a mix.

They're REALLY light, which is nice, and compared to my other Sonys (XM5 noise canceling jawns) more comfortable for long listenings sessions and not nearly as HYPED sounding.

They don't fold, and they don't come with a case or bag so I'll probably stick with the 7506s or XM5s for anything that involves leaving my house, but these seem like they're a nice upgrade for not totally insane money.
