Unpopular opinion but that song has a good melody and decent hooks, and if it was played on a clavinet and recorded in the same manner as his mid-70s output or solo on a piano, instead of on some shitty synth set to arpeggiator it could be a good song rather than the saccharine slop it turned out to be.
That reminds me of the Soundgarden C/NC thread where someone pointed out that half the people here who hate them would love all of their songs if The Jesus Lizard or the Melvins had recorded them.
I don’t think I hear TJL and Soundgarden through the same ears you do. That Venn diagram is 2 completely independent circles for me.

I wasn't the one who said it, someone else did (I forget who). It's entirely possible they said other bands and I'm remembering it wrong.

If you took the deep cuts off of Badmotorfinger and passed them as the work of some more "reputable" doom band it'd definitely go down well.
