I can think of a few historically that were justified on Religious grounds though.

One or two.

Even if religion is used to justify bigotry, I think you could probably trace that bigotry to somewhere other than theology or religious verse.

After all, the Koran hasn't changed for centuries and Britishers were hardly having their throats slit by irrate Muzzies in the 1800s.

Sorry, my bad choice of words, having just looked it up in the dictionary I realise it wasn't what I wanted to say.

Looks like the conservative press want another cartoon Mohammed, but thankfully they're not gonna get it. The beeb's hype in all this is getting a raised eyebrow from me, too.

I wouldn't describe the BBC as hyping this situation. The story's not the lead on their website, and they seem to have stuck to reporting the facts in this article.

He went to bed about a decade ago, or whenever he sold his soul to the bankers and the elites.

This is equivalent of saying all Christians are as insane as or think the same as Pat Robertson. Come on.

I happen to think all Christians are insane as well, but are Christians arresting people over what they are naming their stuffed animals?

I'm pretty sensitive to media hype and 'storm in a tea-cup' reporting and on the whole the BBC are less guilty of it than any of their peers. The literal facts of this story are the bits that annoy me.

It annoys me that a teacher (a profession that I have enormous respect for) was prevented from doing her job because she allowed her students to name a bear. Obviously the elaboration of this particular story is just as distasteful as any sensationalist news reporting but it doesn't mean the original event they are reporting isn't ridiculous.

It is ridiculous.

That's no more twisted than Pro-lifers blowing people up. Wackos are Wackos.
But come now. Really? All 'insane', literally? I'm sure you've met some Christians that qualify as sane. I have, just as i know perfectly sane, rational Muslims.
Their trip isn't for me, but you know, there is an approach to those faiths that works for some people and doesn't necessitate completely irrational behavior.

You put a plaque saying "The Immaculate Conception", "JHVH" or "INRI" above a stuffed chimp, in a school, and see how quick the papers catch on.

Various Christian sects have their insane rules as Muslims have theirs, and they will look ridiculous until you start treading on peoples toes.

It's way, way more twisted than pro lifers blowing people up. It's a fucking stuffed animal. There are people calling for her death because what she named her stuffed animal.
Anyway, the pro lifers have kinda stopped blowing people up anyway, haven't they? I haven't hear about any abortion bombings in a long time. From what I understand it was mainly the one guy and now he's in jail.
Yes, all 'Christians' are insane. Anyone who takes the bible as literal fact and believes in 'god' in the Christian sense is mentally ill plain and simple. It's an absolutely ridiculous, silly concept.

What does doing what you are saying and letting the students name a bear have to do with each other? Two totally different things.

Ok, a stuffed bear in a Christian classroom....the kids say they wanna name it Jesus.
I doubt the teacher would be arrested.

To me, someone who claims to be 'pro-life' which means giving a living human being the ultimate of rights, etc. who goes out and commits MURDER, is so far beyond hypocritical and fucked-up, i don't think there is a word for it.
But, if I read you correctly, you are defining Fundamentalist Christians. Not all, or even most branches of Christianity teach the bible as literal fact.
In both Islam and Christianity, its the fundamentalist wackos that give do the crazy shit. They are the minority of those who practice these faiths.
Like I said, i'm not a believer, but lets be fair.
