It's mostly the attitude and their Moses complex.
Other than that, I don't really care what other people put in their mouths.

I went vegetarian for 3 years for health reasons, and you wouldn't believe the shit I got from meat-eaters about it. Meat-eaters can be just as preachy and dickish about it.
What was the reason for it? I have never given anyone shit for their eating habits. But vegans have that dialed down in a really shitty faux moralist way, which rubs me the wrong way.jfv wrote: Mon Aug 11, 2025 3:40 pmI went vegetarian for 3 years for health reasons, and you wouldn't believe the shit I got from meat-eaters about it. It happened several times at social gatherings with neighbors or extended family. You'd think these would more or less be safe zones, right? Unfortunately, not. They'd notice I wasn't eating anything and ask about it. Plenty of times the person was cool ("oh, ok, fine") but other times people would go on and on about it for minutes, like telling me that my doctor was full of shit about my cholesterol or about how meat substitutes are total garbage.Lu Zwei wrote: Mon Aug 11, 2025 3:51 pmWhat was the reason for it? But if I talked to you about it then, I would too ask you what is your solution for a protein intake, but not from a meat eating place.
Good call. Pizza puffs are awesome. Don’t eat them much any more, but used to all the time as a kid.rsmurphy wrote: Mon Aug 11, 2025 5:44 pm Pizza puffs rule. Never thought of one as a pie, but there you go. All Chicago pizza puffs come from the same place, Italco Foods, but I've read that Ricobene's makes their own and they are the business.
Those meat pies were fucking delicious. They had super flaky crust almost like a croissant. Best food I had in Europe.Lu Zwei wrote: Mon Aug 11, 2025 3:20 pmOh yeah, the memories.Dave N. wrote: Fri Aug 08, 2025 1:26 pm FM Luzwei’s mom made us meat pies the last time The Gary went through Zagreb. I wasn’t eating meat at the time, but Trey still talks about them. Sounds like I missed out!
She used to make two types of those pies. She would made the ones with pie crusts and the ones with potatoes strips. I can't remember now what did you eat instead.
But she could really cook, she was a great hostess.
EDIT: this poll is confusing.
Also, fuck vegans!
I didn't realize you went to Tech. I was there for a few years myself back in the early aughts.djimbe wrote: Mon Aug 11, 2025 6:22 am Pasties like you get in the Michigan UP are awesome. Went to Michigan Tech for 2 years and the old Finnish ladies that worked in the dorm cafeteria made pasties and brown gravy to die for. I taught myself, just so I could have them. Also a shout out here for the Runza, which is a Nebraska thing.
