Once every day conveniences, like groceries and Netflix, become impossible, then there will be no other choice but rebellion. It'll be too late by then, unfortunately. The damage will be pretty significant.

like most foreign policy, I don’t expect the average voter to understand why it’s important.

China certainly understands. When the ice melts, who will be shipping those minerals to your iPhone?
Instead of behaving like an asshole, why don't you explain to us why it is important to "own" Greenland.

We have a treaty with Greenland to have military bases there. We have an agreement to mine there at will, which is not being done due to the cost. So all the things Trump wants to do, we could do today. It's not about anything other than causing damage in some way. It seems obvious that the reason for demanding Greenland is to break up NATO.

All the actions of this administration seems to be in favor of Russia. Either Trump is a plant or a useful idiot. Either way, it doesn't bode well for America.

I read a theory that Trump wants Greenland because it's a larger area than the Louisiana Purchase. I'm incredulous that he knows what that is, but it seems plausible otherwise.

HE SAW A MERCATOR PROJECTION AND THINKS IT'S THE SIZE OF AFRICA. I am 100% certain of this.

who's behaving like an asshole? no offense to wood goblin! he's one of the smartest guys here. i was simply saying that on election day the average voter (again, NOT woodgoblin) will be thinking more about inflation and immigration and less about greenland and semiconductors. i'm frankly surprised at your reaction, given your track record of reading my intentions better than most.

but to answer your question,
greenland is a geostrategic hinge for emerging arctic and north atlantic trade routes, which are opening rapidly as climate change reshapes the region. its rare earth minerals make it a target for china, both for securing critical supply chains and for advancing its polar silk road ambitions. meanwhile russia is expanding its arctic footprint and submarine activity, reinforcing its long‑standing role as the usa’s primary undersea competitor.

i know the board game jokes are funny, but this issue is not going away.

My good dude, Greenland has been here for the last xy years and it wasn't a geostrategic hinge until a month ago. If you will amplify the talking points from the dumbest people on Earth, at least be funny while doing so.

Everyone is reading far too much into this.

It’s just a Trump fever dream that he’s latched onto and is doing the dog on a bone thing.

Venezuela… regime change, nah psych!!!

Iran… we’ll support you to overthrow this they, yeah nah…

Greenland… obsessively important until the next shiney object floats past.

There’s no plan here. It’s just grasps at clouds. No quiet time, it’s just constantly flooding the zone with shit.
