Salut MajoroftheEverettsMiller! You are right -- we have compared them with Bauhaus, but we have not CRAP/NOT CRAPPED the Mac.

MajorEverettMiller wrote:I love this fucking band. I can't imagine ever growing bored with "Tusk" and/or "Rumors.

Not crap.

I will not break the chain.

Lindsay Buckingham is a fine guitarist, and those two records are fantastic. Fantastic, I tell you.

I am quite certain we will end up on the short end of this C/NC.

Tusk is a great record, as are Rumours and Fleetwood Mac. Why my students can't direct their affinity for The Eagles onto this much more worthy exponent of coke-fueled Californian narcissism is beyond me. Probably the Mac's not misogynist enough for them.

The Peter Green era also has its endearing boogie charms. I'm not familiar with much of it, but "Oh Well" and "The Green Manalishi" are good enough for me. Am I the only one out there who think's that Zeppelin's "Black Dog" is a direct rip of "Oh Well" in both the riff and the vocal melody? Of course, "Black dog" is better, but still...

So the Mac gets a not crap from me--although I draw the line at Bob Welch.

I dig Tusk and the s/t album a lot and Rumours is hands-down my favorite record of all time. I have probably heard this record 10,000 times. I watched my mother cry her way through the aftermath of my father leaving while repeatedly listening to "The Chain". I watched her blossom into a hot single woman while listening to "Don't Stop" over and over. And then I watched her and my stepfather do ridiculous dances to "You Make Lovin' Fun" while drinking Gennessee Cream Ale.

I have had my own copy of this record for probably 18 years and I don't see myself ever tiring of it. "Gold Dust Woman" is the only song on the record that hasn't grabbed me really hard. But I'm sure that one day, I'll be moving the needle repetitively back to that groove like I have done with every other song on the album.

The story behind the record being made is a doozy, too.

This fine rock 'n roll band is most definitely Not Crap.

A boy named Lindsey? A girl named Stevie? This band just blew my mind?!

I haven't delved too deeply into their catalog, but of the songs I've heard, about half are the most abominable CRAP ever devised by the mind of man, and the other half are absolutely fantastic. If I wanted to do the research, and maybe I will someday, I might find that the one half was written by one person, and the other half by another. Who knows?

Anyway, Not Crap. WF 5.00
Why do you make it so scary to post here.

I believe tmidgett has said that Fleetwood Mac is, in his opinion, the most difficult of all bands to vote for on C/NC.

Or maybe he said it's the one that is most revealing of your tastes, depending on how you vote.

I like Peter Green, so I give them a very waffle-y N/C.

As has this C/NC so far. I am stunned. Where are the haters?

The hater is here. 100% total fucking crap. CRAP.

In particular, I despise Mick Fleetwood's drum sound. I fucking hate it. Why not just mike some fucking sheetrock and phonebooks, you fucking guitar player? Anyone that references his drum sound as a standard for anything but total dog shit is a doofus. That drum sound fucked music forever. Fuck you. FUCK YOU.

Have I said crap? CRAP.
