Phantom AMPs? 8 channels? 16 channels?????

I've been tinkering with mods on my board again. This rather frumpy old peavy that I've chopped and loved to death. I really love this board mostly due to how easy it is to mod...
I've been running phantom power off the boards own power supply at 17v
this has been mostly useful, as I have many mics that will run just fine at that level, without problems.
But, I'm chopping away again and have parts together to ensure that I can run a separate power supply for phantom power alone (without damaging the board).
my question is how many AMPs do I need behind a phantom power circuit for 8 channels? as well as 16 channels?
I'm planning to mod the 8 channels now and perhaps modding the other 8 later on using the same power source
I can't imagine it would need much... but I'm trying to get some input first.
any insight?
