finally! something to compete with all of the beans & velenos!

the movers picked it up from my parent's condo on 11/10/06. they dropped it. it's been in the shop for the last five weeks - a master tech + a steinway tech ended up putting about 48 man hours into fixing the damage to the keyslip & the toe blocks...

piano dudes got it here today - hoisted it up the back porch steps, took the doors to the bedroom & the studio off the hinges, wedged the thing in here. now i need to let it acclimate for 30 days, get it tuned & have the action adjusted & we're all set.

i'm overwhelmed - haven't seriously played in over 7 years. don't know how much i've lost yet, sort of freaked out. better quit fuckin around and start practicing...

ha! good ole debussy... i never did actually learn how to play that - seems like i should have osmosis'd it from hearing it burbling forth from out of every other practice room.

before i pick that up, i want to get my bach 'chromatic fantasy & fugue' and liszt 'la leggierezza' chops back first... and i think you misunderstood the stories about me- i'm very practiced at staggering around and listening to music!

man, i'm all of 5'4 and 150lbs and used to move furniture.

we moved pianos. i moved many an upright, grand, baby grand, never dropped one and i'm tiny.

yeah - that's the funny thing - these guys had really good marks from the piano dealers that i called, some stunning references etc. my understanding is that showed up to pick up the piano around 9 at night - pitch black down in florida, they had it on the dolly, the dolly hit something and shot out from beneath the piano. totally fucked, but it's working ok now so whatever...
