Airplanes: Stealth vs. Blackbird

'Blackbird singing in the dead of night

take these broken wings and learn to fly

all your life

you have been wating for this moment to arise'

Yup you guessed it. I voted for the Stealth. But just because I've always been partial to the word stealth. As a plane though, the blackbird is far superior. It just goes fast. Really fast. And takes pictures. So cool.

To quote Kelly McGillis
You know you're not going to be happy unless you're doing Mach 4 with your hair on fire.

She was so right.

what are we making this evaluation based on? look, i take it?

you're comparing a retired reconaissance plane with a modern fighter jet. i would say the U2 vs SR71 recon comparison or F117 vs F22 fighter comparison would make more sense.

"stealth" isn't a plane name, for everybody's info. you've shown a photo of the F117 Nighthawk (stealth fighter). "stealth" is a series of technologies, not a plane. the B2 Spirit is the stealth bomber. and newer planes incorporate stealth techonologies in different ways. the F22 Raptor is a much newer (and thus less retarded-looking) example of a stealth-technology fighter jet. it looks a bit more sensible, doesn't it?

more modern tech and all.

all this nitpicking aside, the SR71 is definitely a pretty cool looking plane, and the fact that it's such old technology makes it more impressive to me. i've actually seen one up close, at an air force museum, and got to take some pictures it. it's a neat plane. so i guess it gets my vote then.

Dear Wes9,

You know, back during the glory days of our early '80s playoff runs, one of my favorite targets was a man by the name of Wes Chandler. He could run so fast and had hands so soft that I often thought watching Wes catch one of my tightly bound spirals was the equivalent of watching Jesus heal the blind. So for you Wes, I would be honored to sign your trading card of me. Unless of course you're not Wes Chandler. In which case I have not time for the slow running, brick-handed.

yours,
