Go.
Solo Nick Cave, not including BP.
This C/NC occurred to me because I think the two are trying to get at the same thing but from different ways. Oldham feels more honest to me. Maybe it's Cave's Catholicism that he's so dramatic.
Keep voting and not talking.
Can a thread be locked and voting continue? That'd be super fun.
Re: Nick Cave vs. Will Oldham
2Both played shows that are in my top ten or fifteen live experiences ever, Cave as a guest with Die Haut in the mid 90's and Oldham with a full band in '99. I didn't follow the career of either too closely regardless, though I'm still interested in what Oldham does, and not much in Cave in general. I find hard to believe I'd relate to a Cave song made in the last 25 years, which is close to Oldham's entire career period so far. I did miss the brazilian Bad Seeds concert a couple of years ago, and I bet it was incredible, though.

Re: Nick Cave vs. Will Oldham
6Not going to weigh in on the poll as I have heard much less Nick Cave than Will Oldham. However, for some deeper insight to Oldham’s creative process and his love of Danzig, there is a great conversation that he and Matt Sweeney had with Rick Rubin on the latter’s podcast.

Re: Nick Cave vs. Will Oldham
10Not a big fan of either (as personalities, musicians, or how they approach their art) but Oldham has made a few tunes that are drop-dead beautiful, though I could take or leave most of his work.
(‘Raining In Darling’ – let’s end the world together right now)
I can tolerate the pose that solo-Cave strikes (Your Funeral… and a few other tunes) but I think it’s mostly smoke and mirrors, even though he puts the work in to making the illusion interesting.
Oldham.
