I play guitar, sing and write songs in Fake Canadian. Our bass player says we sound like Devo meets Cheap Trick. I think we sound like Mission of Burma meets Big Star. Your mileage may vary.
I had a live lineup of the band active in 2019 in San Jose, but due to the other guys having their own projects that took priority for them, we only got around to playing one show during that time. During 2020, I took the furlough time I had off to record some music under the FKCN name, including a pretty good EP and a decent LP that maybe had one or two tracks of filler too many.
Two years ago, after I had moved to Sacramento and started the band anew (including aforementioned bassist who replied to my Craigslist Looking For Band Members post about how Sloan were kinda dicks when he was interviewing them for college radio yet were still undeniably good when he saw them later that night on the Navy Blues tour, and then turned out to know a bunch of dudes I knew through being on here), we cut our first EP with G. Scott Evans of Kowloon Walled City fame behind the board. It’s called Fleeting Moments. I think it turned out really good and I’m super proud of it.
Anyway we’re trying to play out as much as possible and gear up for more recording in the fall. This is my favorite band I’ve been in, the one I’ve always wanted to do, and I’m excited to do more.

5Alright, here we go. It's midnight somewhere. This is the first single off the upcoming album due in October. Should be fully out tomorrow on all the streaming but it's out for everyone on Bandcamp right now.

7Killer guitar sound! Good other stuff too, but that's what first hit me.
Re: Fake Canadian, The Band
8Thanks guys! I did two passes on guitar, one with a Boss OD-3 into a Twin Reverb, the other straight into a custom Friedman head that I think is now their Jake E Lee sig model. Don’t remember which is which but I had both my G&L ASAT Special and a Stagg Tele copy with a G&L MFD bridge pickup at the session.

9I was gonna say.. I thought you were a SS guy and I was highly impressed if you got that on-the-verge-of-breakup sound without tubes. (sorry if this adds to tube lust
)

Re: Fake Canadian, The Band
10I guess I’m a “Tubes in the Sheets, Solid State in the Streets” guy.
(Generally when we’re in the studio I’ll use whatever tube amps are available. On the previous EP we did with Scott Evans I went through a Traynor Mark 3. That said I’ve been pretty happy with my live tone through the Quilter!)
