I am no fan of AI - have never used it - or sought it out. But a friend sent links to these little movies and they are whacked out, horrific and entertaining all at once - Cult of the snowman being my fave.
This is my first exposure to this kinda thing - presumably there’s loads more like it - I like the twisted weirdness and it doesn’t matter that it makes no sense and is “flawed” (eg. Drummers hitting air). This dials into the whole AI question - do you reject the form wholly, accept it as part of modern life or recognise a middle ground where it may be creatively interesting? I’m assuming the music is AI also…
This dude seems to have a bit of a limited range once you’ve watched a few - but hard to look away …

2It all depends whether you care about process or product.
To me, art is about the process to produce the end result, not the actual final object.

3I suppose if you enjoy that whole "first year art student" vibe, they're good.
Re: AI artist: doopiidoo
4Yes, except I think the process comes through to the end product. This still looks (and sounds) like someone making "weird shit" with generative AI.Gramsci wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 12:47 amTo me, art is about the process to produce the end result, not the actual final object.
Reject the slop.
Re: AI artist: doopiidoo
5There's a musical...collective? called CZART that does videos using AI, and probably the music is partially ai-assisted, at least. Anyway, the videos are pretty amazing.
Here's one.

Re: AI artist: doopiidoo
7Well, under that criteria, AI could keep pumping this crap out ad infinitum. For me it's fine novelty for about five minutes, and then just feels like a video game glitch.Iancee wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 12:04 am I like the twisted weirdness and it doesn’t matter that it makes no sense

Re: AI artist: doopiidoo
9I'll cop to at least a couple of those videos in the original post making me laugh, but they would function much better as parodies of questionable art-making sensibilities than something akin to art. I mean, "it's the internet," "par for the course," yadda yadda. But as FM enframed said, they smack of "first-year art school student." In this case one who has enough resources to maintain higher production values for his . . . "endeavors."
