The "Silkworm" Soundcraft 200B

1
I know I could put this in the for sale thread, but I kind of think it deserves it's own thread.

A while back I did a deal with Tim and got the Soundcraft 200B mixer that used to belong to him and Silkworm. I set it up in my home studio and was doing a retro project studio style setup. It turns out I don't record enough to use this mixer. Plus, there were a few issues and I really wasn't ready for a tune up project. Then I redid my tiny studio and this mixer has been in storage.

So, I'd like to pass it on to a good home. I would love for it to go somewhere that will appreciate the heritage. I got a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that it was used on some classic Worm stuff and someone else here might also appreciate it. So I will offer it to anyone here for the low cost of Zero Dollars ($0). There are a few conditions.
  • I don't want to pack or ship this. We have to arrange a handoff in SoCal. Tyler? Chris Kazoo? Anyone else got a friend going on tour? An uncle you visit once a year?
  • I don't care what you do with it. Make rack preamps? Put it in a studio? Use it in a punk rock club? Go nuts. I just ask that it never gets sold as a thing with provenance.
That's about it. I'd love to see this mixer getting used, and I'd love to keep it in our community.

Cheers!
Ben

Way too far for me but these are pretty well regarded in general? How are they for summing? I don’t care about vibe as long as things don’t come out the other end worse.

I can’t function without an analog mixer for monitoring (balance, panning, etc) so I wouldn’t mind keeping an eye out for one local to me. Doing all that on a computer day in and out sounds miserable.

Kinda extended from the discussion we were having somewhere else, I changed over to all (most) my monitoring being picked from AVB off the various IO all around me, but... 4 of the analog inputs on my device that is for monitoring (MOTU Monitor 8) are the 4 analog aux inputs from my Allen Heath. So If I just pot those 4 faders up in the control software, I can mix monitors from the console, AKA, the REAL way. I very often just still do everything this way since it is really fast, and tangible to do. I do get annoyed having to ALT-TAB over to a browser screen to do a quick headphone mix change and this set up lets me do both.
