What does doing what you are saying and letting the students name a bear have to do with each other? Two totally different things.

Ok, a stuffed bear in a Christian classroom....the kids say they wanna name it Jesus.
I doubt the teacher would be arrested.

That wasn't my post.

But, if I read you correctly, you are defining Fundamentalist Christians. Not all, or even most branches of Christianity teach the bible as literal fact.
In both Islam and Christianity, its the fundamentalist wackos that give do the crazy shit. They are the minority of those who practice these faiths.
Like I said, i'm not a believer, but lets be fair.

Yes, pretty much everyone agrees that murder is wrong that's why they put the dude who was doing it in jail.

No, I'm talking all Christians....anyone who belives supernatural Jesus died for our sins and that there's a heaven and a hell and all that.
Insane. Retarded.

I'll be fair, all religions are poisonous and backwards and we as a species should be actively working to eliminate them.

This is gonna sound really weird but let me ask you: Do you believe that an actual human being named Jesus Christ once walked the earth and did like influential stuff?

I've never been a fan of this argument.

Essentially, you're saying the people that ignore those wacky holy scriptures we talked about before are the 'real' Muslims/Xians/Whatever. I'm not convinced that is the case. The ones actually practicing the faith, listening to the clerics and following aforementioned holy scriptures, are a majority, not a minority.

It's not about 'ignoring', its all in a relative interpretation. Sure, both Islam and Chritianity have spilled blood unjustly throughout their histories. And yes, people of both faiths have interpreted the bible or qur'an in order to justify what most people, both inside and outside of their respecitve faiths, would deem irrational and unjusifiable violence.
I'm arguing that the majority of people that consider themselves Muslims or Christians do not act or condone these acts of 'radical' violence. The interpretaions of these texts change with the times, to some extent.

Apparently yes, you do. Otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion.
In any case, my point was going to be that Chritianity is not entirely based on 'supernatural' concepts. thats all.

Uh, no.
I don't give a shit whether or not some dude named Jesus lived thousands of years ago. It has nothing to do with anything in the year 2007. To think it does is insane.
Christianity=the belief that Jesus was the son of god and died for people's sins, no? Sounds pretty supernatural.

How long does everyone have to sit and pretend that radical Muslims aren't out of their fucking minds?
I mean going apeshit over some stupid cartoons was bad enough, now they are fixated on what people are naming their toy bears.

Come on, seriously.

with one small edit, i completely agree with pouch-man.

But that is a pretty important edit/distinction, yes?
