Zimbabwe School Shirts- $20!

I feel like all y'all have some great ideas about fundraising and such...and I could use some help figuring out how to help out.My friend Des is a retired school principal, and then ran the shelter for homeless families here, which is how I know him...but he grew up in Zimbabwe, and does a lot of work to help out back home. He and his wife sponsor a school in his village- about 300 kids. They need to expand the building, so the equivalent of their PTA is pushing wheelbarrows about 2 miles to the nearest river for water and sand to make the concrete. On his visit last month, Des was able to give their soccer team new jerseys (he also used to coach soccer) and gave them enough cash to finish the foundation. I want to help- and my instinct is to go help do the building. That is stupid, as the cost of my ticket would be much more valuable as cash toward the project. Maybe a better way, in addition to my cash, is to help create some sort of event or way to get lots of folks to chip in.Some of you are geniuses at this. How can I make this a thing? Anyone interested in helping, or at least walking me through planning something?I'm not sure if you've already done this, but if you haven't, sell replica soccer jerseys. It's just the right price point for a lot of people, and it serves as free advertising for the cause (you might add a URL for a donation site on the back as well).
