The season is okay. The abundant use of music and montages gets a bit irritating.

72There's barely a story anymore but sometimes you're rewarded with Chicago deep cuts like hey, there's Alpana Singh.hyljetronic wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 7:38 amBasically, yeah. The dipshit duo/trio? has thankfully toned it down this season.

73Yeah, they rarely bother to write any kind of drama.penningtron wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 8:03 amThere's barely a story anymore but sometimes you're rewarded with Chicago deep cuts like hey, there's Alpana Singh.hyljetronic wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 7:38 amBasically, yeah. Also the way they write Jon Bernthal's character makes me think he's intellectually disabled. He and the more tattooed dipshit, although I don't mind the dipshit duo.

74In terms of "things that I fucking love", Hollywood misses the mark to the exact same degree with food and music. To me, this show is the equivalent of when friends of mine insist that Charli XCX and Chappell Roan are actually geniuses and worth my time. Then I check it out and want to gouge my fucking eyeballs/earholes out. Celebrity/"rockstar" chefs and the food network have destroyed any sympathy I once had for people who choose that grueling industry. The worst part is that I'm immediately suspicious of 99% of restaurant recommendations, even from friends.
Anyway, Crap, but I'm not voting. Fuck Yelp.

75OMG yes. Most recommendations are for new "hot" places featured in Eater or Infatuation or some other list-compiling publication, or tik-tok. The next time we talk/see each other they ask "did you go there?" and I go, "oh, no I didn't" and they look disappointed.jeff fox wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 10:31 am I'm immediately suspicious of 99% of restaurant recommendations, even from friends.
Just give me street tacos or the occasional smash burger, washed down by a lager, hefeweizen, or lambrusco.
I'm just tired of food as entertainment, I guess.

76While probably not intentional, they used it after a scene where someone has a heart attack..hyljetronic wrote: Sat Jun 28, 2025 2:27 pm New season features Shellac over credits in one episode.

Re: TV Show - The Bear
78New season is better than previous, IMO. While the parts about the restaurant bore me, I realize it's well acted and it's more about how the writers/creators/actors (who are doing some writing) think that people should communicate.
Re: TV Show - The Bear
79We’re about to start. A bit of a “last chance”, as season three was so meh I can’t remember what happened.

80As a guy who spent the better part of a decade in kitchens of varying degrees of fancy, I can't stand this show. Maybe I'm too close.
There are guys as fucked up and handsome as the main guy out there, though.
