Re: Band From New Jersey: Rye Coalition
21Can't say much about them musically, I remember liking them. They are cool guys we played a festival with a bunch of years ago.
In 2000(?) when I was living in San Diego, my buddy and I decided we would see them as many times as we could. So SD, somewhere in Orange County, then some small town south of LA, and the last show was in LA proper. SD show ruled, the OC show ruled, then we show up at the small town show and it was cancelled last minute. Bummer, but we got word that the LA show was still on.Isaac wrote: Thu Jul 10, 2025 10:35 amThat band was SCORCHIN'. Of that throwback meathead rock of that era (say 1998-2004 or so), they were absolutely the best.major wrote: Thu Jul 10, 2025 7:52 am Tight Bros From Way Back When did this waaay better. Wish they could have recorded with Albini.
For a band that would scan as being red-lining in irony, it didn't feel that way watching them. Our first show in Seattle a million years ago was with them and the Thermals, and my lord, the Tight Bros just scorched everyones' faces off.
Rye Coalition is a band I wish I saw live back then. Maybe would hit me differently.

Show up at the venue that night and while they were setting up we realized it wasn't the same drummer. Before they started, Jared said, "Sorry, but tonight's show might be shorter than usual. We fired our drummer yesterday and our good friend is going to fill in tonight but only knows so many songs. Give it up for Dale!" That's when I realized it was Dale Fuckin' Crover. They RIPPED through about 6-7 of their originals and closed out the set with a 15-20 minute cover of "Shakin' All Over". It was amazing.
