There's something absurd and kind of hilarious about perilously shoving an indoor housecat into a box and carting them out into the world in order to visit the vet while they mournfully yowl every 30 seconds.
I just did that with a community cat, the only one left after two were hit by cars in the last six months. He has been much friendlier now that he's the only one around, and coming in the house for 5-10 minutes at a time. Turns out he's 8-9 and has bad teeth. They want $2K for the mouth work. I'm hitting up a non-profit vet and look into it, but I'm not handing over two grand for a community cat.
