I love the mental image of Rush fans around the world slamming their pewter wizard statues and steampunk top hats to the ground upon hearing that they're going on tour with Anika Nilles, a LADY drummer, replacing Neil Peart.

CRAP.
My brother is the most avid Rush fan I know, and he can't wait to see them, and her.

Are you basing your vicarious pleasure on anything you have seen and heard from people who do enjoy the group, or...?
I sometimes glance at the Steve Hoffman forums, and there were a shockingly high number of people who were livid that Rush were touring under the name “Rush” with someone other than Peart on drums.

I don’t recall seeing any misogyny in their anger, but I do wonder if they would’ve been as angry if it had been Stewart Copeland on the throne.

I guess “The Rush Experience” or “Rush 2” or some shit would have been okay, but for the two original members to call it “Rush,” well . . .

I'm mostly just making stuff up in my head to be a jerk. I have known a couple of gross, misogynist Rush fans in passing, but that's unfortunately just dudes a lot of the time.

I def do not truck with noise-rock bros, either.

They popped up on youtube once and both Lex and I were like "Good god what is this crap?"
Being introduced to them at a very early age probably helped in my case. My two older sisters loved them. My sisters were a huge influence on my musical tastes early on, and as a result... Rush is a thing for me. I can't undo it, for better or worse. Yes, some women like Rush. Most of them were in band in high school, I'm guessing.

Going to see Rush in Chicago later this year with one of my sisters, in fact. I probably wouldn't have shelled out the $$ for the show but the tickets were a Christmas gift from my mom. Yeah, I'll go, sure, thanks mom.
Okay fair - this is all very heartwarming : )
